I would like to introduce readers outside Medellin to the Casa Tres Patios, and to acknowledge the assistance provided by Director, Tony Evanko, during my time in the city.
Tony is an architect and artist who is based in Medellin following a Fullbright Scholarship. Prior to moving to Colombia he taught at the University of New Mexico and worked with Antoine Predock´s office.
Casa Tres Patios is a dedicated alternative art space that offers a cultural programme including regular film screenings, exhibitions and talks. Rooms are also available for artists residencies. The images show the constantly changing view of the mountainside communities from the back patio of the Casa.
Tony´s contacts within the art and design community in Medellin have been invaluable in gaining a deeper understanding of the history and attitudes towards public space in the city over the past decades.
