The Subtropical City Park - changing roles for changing times
Urban Designer and Architect, Amalie Wright, winner of the 2007 MECU Travel Bursary, travels Colombia and New York to study projects that have been created to effect city-wide social and physical transformations and redefine the role and possibilities of the urban park.
About Us
Amalie Wright
Amalie is a Registered Architect and Urban Designer with ten years experience across the fields of architecture, landscape and urban art. Her work has included high density residential projects, urban design and infrastructure, and integrated artwork. Amalie is an Associate Director of Design in EDAW’s Brisbane studio.
The Centre for Subtropical Design
The Centre for Subtropical Design researches and promotes urban design, architecture, interior design and landscape architecture in the subtropics. It is an initiative of the Brisbane City Council in partnership with Queensland University of Technology, and the Queensland Government Department of Infrastructure and Planning.

2008 Travel Bursary
The Bursary is to be used for the purpose of travelling internationally to study sustainable design in subtropical urban locations. The Bursary promotes the value that built environment professionals bring to the subtropical urban realm.
The next Travel Bursary opens in May/June 2008.
